5am a LOVE, HATE relationship

So my husband and I have been trying to figure out how to make our lives more manageable…and of course this involves a schedule…which can I just say I have a HATE, LOVE relationship with schedules.  In some ways they make your lives so much easier and in other ways, ways that conflict with my procrastinating, save it for the last minute, personality, schedules drive me nuts!

However, for the last 3 days I have been getting up at 5am.  Now for those of you who thrive on the wee hours of the morning, you might be saying what’s the big deal?  But perhaps there are some of you out there reading this that can completely relate when I say, 5am is an ungodly hour!!!! I am not a morning person to say the least, so I really have no idea how I am even functioning at the hour let alone how I function throughout my day, but all that to say my alarm clock now reads 5am.  We go to the gym have about an hour work out and then head home where we spend time in our Bibles and then get back together to talk about what God has been showing us, pray and then at 7:15 promptly start getting ready for the day.

Now I obviously described the HATE part of the relationship above, but here is the LOVE part, I LOVE getting my day started on the right foot, excersise is something I have to make myself do and doing it together with my husband is actually quite a bonding experience. I LOVE starting my day off with God and getting to share what I am learning with my husband it helps us connect on a level I don’t think we have before.  Its been really healthy for us to make that time a priority in our relationship with God and with each other.  I also LOVE providing myself with enough time to get ready in the mornings without rushing to make my breakfast and lunch and I have gotten to work on time every single day this week…which is for sure a good thing.

So all that to say…5am, I HATE it, but I LOVE it.

  1. Good for you! I also love starting my day off on the right foot with exercise and time in the Word but don’t do it very often. Maybe I’ll use your schedule for inspiration. :) I think it’s great that you and your husband make time to share what you’re learning. My husband and I usually ride together for our 30 min commute so we share some then but it’s not as intentional. Another thing to take note of!
