Are you listening?
I have to say I just watched the movie August Rush and it is an incredible movie. Anyone who has not seen it yet needs to watch it. It’s all about this young boy who was given up for adoption, but believes the music he hears will lead him back to his parents, or lead his parents to him. What he doesn’t know is that both his parents are musicians, and they both wanted him. The story tells of the boy’s incredible journey to find his parents through listening and playing music to guide them to each other. There was this one line though that really stuck out to me when the boy asked his mentor, “Why can only some people hear the music?” And his mentor replies, “Only some people are listening.”
This line really hit me on a spiritual level. I mean its kind of the same thing with us and God I think. God has a beautiful symphony playing all around us and some of us hear it and gasp at its beautiful sound and inspiring tones, while others of us wonder why we can’t experience it the same way. But its the others of us that are too busy to stop the busyness of life, the fast paced action racing around us, the overflow of information pouring into our minds, to STOP! and listen. It is a skilled man, a gifted person who can stop the whirlwind that is called life for just a few moments in a day to stop and listen to the music. Not only listening for it, but actually hearing it, falling insync with it’s composer and together they play the most beautiful rhapsody.
It makes you think, can you hear the music? Are you listening?

dreamer, an artist, a dramatist, a singer, a dancer, swimmer, teacher, worshipper, a passionate and strong willed woman, God chaser, seeking to discover who He created me to be, honest at heart, open, and willing to change, real and authentic through and through. Laughter is my middle name, my favorite quote is, those who can’t laugh at themselves leave the job to others…I am that other, I am a story teller, humility is my learned trait, pride comes more naturally, I am an addict…food is my drug of choice, learning to surrender that part of me to the Lord, abstinence from these addicting foods (aka sugar and flour) is my daily quest. I am a wife to a wonderful man of God, the love of my life, and proud mother of a precious little dog, a confused cuddley kitty, and one ginormous rabbit. Yes…I have a rabbit. And there you have it me in a nut shell.
I adored this movie. Great description of it!
I completely identify with what you found in the film.
